Rules and Regulations

1. Admission

The number of seats in each branch of diploma program for which admission is to be made is decided by AICTE.

Admission to all courses will be made in odd semester of each session. At the first-year level, a polytechnic entrance examination is conducted by BCECE Board, Govt. of Bihar, for selection of students. Details of rules of polytechnic entrance examination of BCECEB are available in the information brochure published by BCECEB every year.

2. Registration

  • After the Admission, registration of each student is compulsory.
  • Each student has to submit the attested copy of allotment letter in the registration cell, issued to him/her by BCECEB for registration.
  • Each student has to submit a photocopy of the passing certificate of the 10th exam.
  • Student should affix only those photographs submitted by him/her at the time of counselling in the office of BCECEB, Patna on the registration form.
  • Any change in the Student’s name or Father’s name is not allowed after registration.
  • Registration certificate issued by SBTE, Patna is an important document. Therefore, all students have to keep it and preserve it in original format. For details visit the website of SBTE, Bihar.

3. Attendance

a. Students are required to attend all the classes (Lecturers, Tutorial, laboratories, Practical, Workshops, field work, vocational training) for which they have been registered.

b. Students are also required to participate in the community development program and other social activities designed by the institute.

c. A student will be debarred from appearing in an examination if his/her attendance falls below 75 percent.

d. If the period of leave is for a short duration (less than two weeks), prior application for leave shall have to be submitted to the head of the department concerned.

4. Conduct and Discipline

a. Students must maintain conduct befitting the students of an institute of national importance.

b. "Ragging in any form is prohibited and banned": acts of ragging will be considered gross indiscipline.

c. The following acts constitute gross violation of the code of conduct:

  • Ragging
  • Lack of courtesy and decorum; indecent behavior
  • Willful damage or stealthy removal of property
  • Possession or consumption of alcoholic drinks or drugs
  • Mutilation or unauthorized possession of library books
  • Noisy behavior disturbing others
  • Hacking in computer systems
  • Other acts of gross indiscipline may lead to penalties including reprimand, fines, or expulsion.

d. Disciplinary actions will be taken by the warden, head of the department, and principal, depending on the location of the offence.

e. Major acts of indiscipline will be handled by the students Disciplinary committee.

f. Appeals against major punishments can be made to the Director, Science and Technology, Govt. of Jharkhand.

5. Change of Branch

a. A student admitted to a particular branch will continue in that branch until completion.

b. The SBTE, Patna may lay down rules in this regard.

TEST & EXAMINATION

Each Student shall take the respective examinations conducted by College/SBTE Patna, Government of Bihar as per the following rules:

Course of Study: Each student shall attend and complete the required course including Theory, Practical, Term Work, Internships, Project, Non-Credit Courses as prescribed by SBTE, Patna, Bihar.

Attendance: At the end of the academic year the student who fails to secure 75% will not be allowed to appear at the examination conducted by the authorities.

DISCIPLINE

  • All the students who have taken admission in the College will be under the complete disciplinary control of the college administration or any other officer appointed by the College for the same.
  • Students must behave in accordance with disciplinary rules of the College/ DSTTE, Government of Bihar as formed and notified by the principal from time to time.
  • A candidate is supposed to furnish actual information in the application form. Any false/fabricated information will cause his/her expulsion from the Institute.
  • Students are required to wear his/her identity card with recent photographs & duly signed by Principal. Students are required to bring the identity card daily. On verification, if identity card is not be found in the possession of the students, Principal may not allow that student to attend class.
  • In case the identity card has been lost the student must give immediate information to the Principal in writing with proper reason of loss. A fresh identity card will be issued on payment fixed by the Institution.
  • If the conduct of the students in their classes or in the premises of the College will cause the disturbance in the academic atmosphere the College administration may expel him/her and their fees will be forfeited.
  • If the Character of a student is found against the academic norms & principles, it is liable to take a hard action against them including fine.
  • If for any reason the continuance of the student in the college, in the opinion of college administration is detrimental to the best interest of the College, the Principal may ask such student to leave the College without giving reason for his/her decision.
  • Students of will be required to complete Industrial Training and the designated establishment to the full satisfaction of the Examiner, failing which his/ her Diploma may be withheld till sustaining is completed.
  • During leisure time student must not loiter about in the College premises while the other classes are in progress. They should make use of the College Library.
  • Students will not be allowed to take part in current political activities during their stay in the College.

  • No student is allowed to permit the entry/ stay in the hostel without permission of institute authories.
  • College maintains a well-equipped library. Students should follow the disciplinary rules and guidelines suggested by the Librarian.
  • Students are expected to take proper care of instruments, equipment, machines and other properties of the college. Students may be charged for loss or damage of college properties caused by his/her carelessness, negligence or misuse.
  • Smoking is strictly prohibited in the Institutions premises.
  • Non-compliance of the rules of the College may also be dealt with the means of suitable disciplinary action, as per guidelines provided by Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education (DSTTE), Government of Bihar.
  • The matter not covered by the existing rule will depend upon the discretion of the Principal, Government Polytechnic Siwan.
