About Our Government Polytechnic Siwan

The Government Polytechnic Siwan is located in the lap of greenery and natural environment at Bawandih village, Chainpur, Siwan. It is 30 Kms away from Siwan Railway Station. The Institute is taken care by Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education, Government of Bihar. The Institute was established in 2018 under seven Nishchay Programme of Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Bihar.

Initiatives

The Institute has taken many new initiatives to improve the Teaching Learning Process. It includes:

Academic Outreach

Government Polytechnic Siwan offers academic outreach activities to create meaningful connections between academia and society to address pressing challenges, promote lifelong learning, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge and well-being for the benefit of all. These activities aim to extend the resources, expertise, and research capabilities to diverse audiences including students, educators, policymakers, industry professionals, and the general public. The institute offers ‘Pahal’ classes for the students of Secondary and higher secondary school students and ‘Umang’ program to offer various sorts of training programmes.

The new National Education Policy (NEP-2020) envisions the creation of "Skill Hubs" in public and private institutions to provide opportunities for students to acquire vocational and technical skills. The Government Polytechnic Siwan situated at village - Bawandih, Chainpur has implemented the concept practically and it has evolved as an example for other institutes. It has given a new height of confidence to participant kids and now they plan to start their own venture. The College plans to repeat the success story in different domains of technology with unprivileged women and unemployed youth of nearby villages.

The Institute has started “Pahal” program for underprivileged kids in nearby region. The faculty members teach the students from class 6th to class 12th from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm. They also help the students to prepare for competitive examinations. The program is a major initiative of Sri Lokesh Kumar Singh, Hon’ble Secretary, Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education, Government of Bihar. The program has got great success in attracting the budding kids. The aim of program is to provide educational opportunities, workshops, seminars, and training programs to enhance learning experiences, skill development, and professional growth for students, educators, and professionals at all levels.

The Institute has started “Umang” program to harness the potential of students and kids in nearby region in Co-curricular and Extra-curricular domains. It is also an initiative of Hon’ble Secretary, Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education, Government of Bihar. The program has got great success in nurturing the psychomotor domain skills and sports spirit among the students.

Rules and Regulations

The number of seats in each branch of diploma program for which admission is to be made is decided by AICTE. Admission to all courses will be made in odd semester of each session. At the first-year level, a polytechnic entrance examination is conducted by BCECE Board, Govt. of Bihar, for selection of students. Details of rules of polytechnic entrance examination of BCECEB are available in information brochure published by BCECEB every year.

  • After the Admission, registration of each student is compulsory.
  • Each student has to submit the attested copy of allotment letter in the registration cell, issued to him/her by BCECEB for registration.
  • Each student has to submit the photo copy of passing certificate of 10th exam.
  • Student should have to affix only those photo graph submitted by him/her the time of counselling in the office of BCECEB, Patna on the registration form.
  • Any change in the Student’s name or Father’s name is not allowed to students after registration.
  • Registration certificate issued by State Board of Technical Education (SBTE), Patna is an important document. Therefore, all students have to keep it and preserve it in original format. For details visit the Web site of SBTE, Bihar.

  • Students are required to attend all the classes (Lecturers, Tutorial, laboratories Practical, Workshops, field work, vocational training) for which they have been registered.
  • Students are also required to participate the community development program and other social activities, designed by the institute.
  • A student will be debarred from appearing in an examination if his/her attendance falls below 75 percent.
  • If the period of leave is for a short duration (less than two weeks), prior application for leave shall have to be submitted to the head of the department concerned.

  • Student shall have to maintain their own conduct themselves within and outside the premises of the institute in such a manner befitting the students of an institute of national importance.
  • "Ragging in any form is prohibited and banned", acts of ragging will be considered as gross indiscipline and will be severely dealt with the provision and as per guidelines issued by the Govt. of India and the state government.
  • The following acts of omission and/or commission shall constitute gross violation of the code of conduct and are liable to invoke disciplinary measures:
    • Ragging
    • Lack of courtesy and decorum; indecent behaviour anywhere within or outside the campus.
    • Wilful damage or stealthy removal of any property/belongings of the institute/Hostel or of fellow students.
    • Possession, consumption or distribution of alcoholic drinks or any kind of hallucinogenic drugs.
    • Mutilation or unauthorized possession of library books.
    • Noisy and unseemly behaviour, disturbing studies of fellow students.
    • Hacking in computer system (such as entering other persons area without prior permission, manipulation and/or damage of computer hardware and software etc.)
    • Any other act of gross indiscipline commensurate with the gravity of the offence, the punishment may be reprimand, fine, expulsion from the hostel, debarment from an examination, rustication for a specified period or even outright expulsion from the institute.
  • For an offence committed in (a) a hostel, (b) a department or in a classroom and (c) elsewhere, the Warden, the Head of the Department and Principal respectively, shall have the authority to reprimand or impose fine. All cases involving punishment other than reprimand shall be reported to the Chairman, Students Disciplinary Committee.
  • All major acts of indiscipline, which may have serious implication on the general body of students, and/or which may warrant a uniform and more formalized nature of investigation, shall be handled by the Students Disciplinary Committee, appointed by the Principal.
  • In the event of a major punishment, the aggrieved party shall have the right to appeal Director, Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education, Govt. of Bihar.

A student admitted to a particular branch of the Diploma programme will continue studying in that branch till completion. However, the SBTE, Patna may lay down rules in this regard.
